Chemical changes during the heating and blending of
barrel staves are essential to flavoring wine. At Innerstave we have
reverse engineered traditional toasting results and developed unique,
precision toasting methods to maintain consistency of our highly sought
after premium “barrel flavors.”
Flavors are central to Innerstave’s reputation. We take immense
pride in providing oak flavors that enhance wine and we are careful
to discern each winemaker’s particular flavor objective. Our goal
is to develop flavors such as vanilla, caramel, butterscotch, nuttiness
and toast without barbeque smokiness. Sweet, freshly baked bread characters
often present themselves with the vanilla aromas. The aromas are accompanied
by noticeable smoothness and body.
Production standards and details are very important to us, but our
most vital objective is assisting winemakers in creating the premium
oak profiles they desire.
